Lidl have inaugurated their logistics centre in Tenerife and confirmed that the 12 new supermarkets in (6) Tenerife, (4) Gran Canaria, (1) Lanzarote and (1) Fuerteventura will open during February / March 2010.

The individual Lidl supermarkets will start to open from the 4th February, each supermarket on the map of the Lidl Canary Islands website has an opening date, Lanzarote’s is noted as the 11th March 2010 and Fuerteventura 18th March.

I stumbled upon this market on a weekday whilst visiting Arrecife in early December, I can’t find any information that confirms when the market is held but it was a pleasant surprise!

Yes, there were a lot of the usual stalls but also some different ones, it was an enjoyable walk around El Charco or “the puddle” as it translates to, these stall holders weren’t pushy, they were happy for you to have a look and wander on by.

It can be difficult to find shops selling fireworks in Lanzarote, although everyone seems to have them and set them off all day long! They are known as Fuego Artificiales or Pirotecnia and sold throughout the year in Spain.
