St Patrick's Day Celebrations in Costa Teguise

Thursday 17th March is of course St Patrick’s Day and will be variously celebrated across Lanzarote. The shamrock parade is scheduled for Friday 18th March making a weekend of events in Puerto del Carmen.

However I had a quick round up of the Irish bars in Costa Teguise to check out what’s on.

Cheltenham_Festival_2011

The racing from the four day Cheltenham Festival is a firm favourite especially on St Patrick’s Day featuring Irish trained horses and riders. Most of the bars mentioned will be showing coverage of the races.

Ryans Bar Costa Teguise

Ryan’s bar along the seafront are threatening to serve green beer and have a full days entertainment lined up starting at 2pm with Degsy followed by Raggle Taggle Gypsies, the guitar and mandolin maestros, 3.30-4.30. The evening music kicks off with soulful teenage duo Jake and Talulah at 7pm followed by a foot tapping sing along with Derek “Degsy” Brown starting at 9.30.

Further along the promenade both Hennessey’s and The Irish Bailey have music planned for the evening session.

The Crown Costa Teguise

The Crown bar and restaurant in the Las Coronas complex has a full party day planned for the 17th. They will be serving traditional ham, cabbage and champ. For those who may not know “champ” is a delicious mashed potato with added spring onions and lots of butter! It’s a traditional Northern Ireland dish and one of my favourites. They will have a live music set from the Raggle Taggle Gypsies at 5pm.

The Shamrock Costa Teguise

The Shamrock in CC Jablillo will be showing GAA matches as usual and have musician Graham playing from 9pm.

Pappa Jacks Costa Teguise

Papa Jacks bar in CC Tandarena has a weekend line up starting on Thursday with well known CT musician Tommy from 8pm followed by multi instrumentalists the 3Bridies at 9pm. The boys are back in town with a Friday night session from the Raggle Taggle Gypsies and Tommy plays again on Saturday.

The weather may be changeable in Lanzarote this St. Pats day but it’s always warm and dry in the pub!
