Primark Open First Shop In The Canary Islands

We have exciting news for those campaigning for a Primark in Lanzarote………………. from the 22nd September 2010 at 10:30 Primark will open the doors to their first shop in the Canary Islands. Unfortunately it is still an short flight or ferry away from us as the Primark shop will be situated on the island of Gran Canaria.

Primark Environmentally Friendly Primark Flagship Store

Primark started as Penneys in Dublin back in 1969 expanding across the water to the UK in 1973 over the next three decades the company acquired stores from BHS, Co-Op and C & A. The expansion into Spain came in 2006 with the first store in Madrid. As of July 2010 Primark had a total of 200 stores with 38 in Ireland, 141 in the UK, 15 in Spain and the other 6 within Europe.

It is Primark’s ethos to incorporating style, quality and affordable prices that has made their stores so popular and the reason that expats living abroad want these stores close by. The new shop in Gran Canaria will employ 150 people and is 2,300 m2.
