Here are a selection of photos from this morning (day 4) at the PWA event in Lanzarote, it was that gusty it was hard to stand up, a row of seats were blown into the sea, the Red Bull buoys couldn’t be anchored and the wall blew out of the judges office! (Quincy Offringa, right) Andraz Zan Andy “Bubble” Chambers Dai Nagamine Yegor Propretinkskiy These athletes are amazing to watch, not only can they perform some amazing freestyle tricks, they are very close, there is a lot of camaraderie, they discuss their tactics, help each other with their boards, hang out together – it really is a community of boarders, some of these sailors are as young as 17 with a 20 year age span over the group of competitors. It was hard to stay on the beach today, the sand was whipping up with the wind - I’m still finding sand in places it shouldn’t be, the conditions were extreme, strange to think we’ve had very little wind for a couple of weeks now, but when its needed, its back with a vengeance. Andre Paskowski Levi Lenz Nayra Alonso Maarten Van Ochten and others heading out I’ll leave the action shots to the experts, check out the moves on www.pwaworldtour.com this photo gallery is of my people shots from the beach at the event, without a super duper telephoto lens! Tomasz Wieczorek Janjao – the youngest competitor OK, just a bit of the action to finish, but not close ups…….. Saturday sees the third double elimination heats, both Estredo and Offringa have worked hard enough to win the first event of the year and are one step closer to regaining their PWA crowns, read the PWA ticker updates from today.
