Monday 13th April sees the start of the work to create a promenade (Paseo de Puerto de Naos – Los Mármoles) connecting the ferry port Puerto Naos along the front to where the Arrecife one currently ends at Los Mármoles / Charco de San Ginés. The project will take 11 months to complete but is much needed as currently any visitors arriving by cruise ship have to walk along the busy main roads without pavements, and through the warehouse and commercial section of the capital. The new promenade is included in the Plan de Infraestructura Turística 2006-2010 and will follow the coast from the port past the Castillo San José and through to the centre, a much more scenic and safe route.
