Olenka Frenkiel reported on BBC2 Newsnight recently about former priest Bill Carney who is currently residing in the Canary Islands. Although not specified it is clear from the video that he is in the resort of Playa Blanca, Lanzarote.
Bill Carney was reported in the Murphy report and cited as one of the worst child abusers in Dublin's Catholic diocese, prior to his winter residence in Lanzarote he was living quietly in Scotland and his history was unbeknown to his wife who he married in 2004. The Murphy report quotes a psychiatric assessment about the priest which said that he suffers from “psychopathic personality disorder”.

As Carney’s church convictions for indecent assault are prior to the 2003 Sex Offender’s Act and took place in Ireland, he is not registered on the Sex Offenders Register, this means that neither the UK or International Police are aware and he is free to live amongst us undetected.
