The sun has gone down on another day of searching here in Lanzarote, and it has now been a full week since Margaret was last seen. Teams of emergency services volunteers and locals spent the day searching the many paths of the island fruitlessly. Islanders of several nationalities joined up with the official teams and also covered areas alone.
Margaret’s son Ben, his wife Clare and their friends were part of the search team and were met by The British Consul from Las Palmas for a late debrief this afternoon. At the meeting they were told that official support cannot be offered over the weekend, and this means that only local volunteers will be able to continue the search tomorrow.
We’re appealing for help to join the family in a grid search from Orzola, where Margaret was last sighted – this is on the advice of the professional search and rescue services. If you can join us, please be at the church in Orzola at 9AM tomorrow morning.
