The Ocean Lava Lanzarote Triathlon is half the distance of an Ironman event but still tough! Athletes The swim section will be 1.9km consisting of a two loop course set up from Playa Grande beach in Puerto del Carmen. The bike section covers 90km with a route out from Puerto del Carmen up through La Geria the wine region of Lanzarote passing through Yaiza and then out to El Golfo before steadily climbing up through Las Breñas and here comes the hard part……..up the climb to Femés before heading down hill through the valley and over to the stunning Montañas del Fuego before dropping back into Puerto del Carmen. The run section is 21.1km with three loops of a course from Playa Grande to Playa Los Pocillos along the sea front promenade in Puerto del Carmen. A big difference between the Ocean Lava and Ironman event is that you can also compete as part of a team as well as a solo athlete making the race open to combine teams swimmers, cyclists and runners. Registration for the event is now open, entry costs €120 for an individual or €200 for a team, the individual entry is processed through Ticketsport. Discount is available for clubs and associations registering a block of 10 or more athletes, there is also a reduced price of €75 for pensioners, students and unemployed.
