The cruise ship will be visiting Lanzarote 19 times over this winter, with the last visit on the 13th April 2013. The Norwegian Spirit will be in Lanzarote again tomorrow, the 20th November and then again on the 29th.

Carrying 1,923 passengers plus 901 crew on the first visit, this cruise ship is expected to bring 38,000 visitors to the island over the coming months. Tourism councillor for Arrecife,  Rafael Juan González was on hand to officially greet the ship at Puerto de Los Mármoles. He said “the presence of this ship is a sign that we are doing well and that large cruise companies are still betting on our island, our capital and our port”.

It’s going to be a busy week in the capital, eight cruise ships are expected to dock carrying around 12,500 tourists spending the day in Lanzarote. Other cruise liners expected in the next few days include Riviera, Aida Bella and Azamara Quest. Shops and restaurants in Arrecife have been opening especially on a Sunday to welcome these tourists, as it’s become one of the most popular days to visit the island during this winter’s cruise schedule.
