New School, CEIP La Asomada - Mácher

CEIP_La_Asomada_-_Macher Courtesy of Cronicas The President of the Canary Island Goverment Paulino Rivero inaugurated the new primary school CEIP (Centre of Infantile Education and Primaria) La Asomada –Mácher earlier this week. The school officially opened in time for the start of the new term in September 2009 and has the capacity for 225 students although only 61 students attend at the moment.

The project was built with an investment of 2.45m Euros and has 9 classrooms, 3 for infants and 6 for primary aged pupils as well as a sports track, agricultural garden area, gymnasium and multi purpose room. The school is part of the CER (Colectivo de Escuelas Rurales) group of rural schools, there are 7 teachers and as the pupils all live locally there is no bus transport service.
