A green light was given for a new circular bus route within the resort of Costa Teguise yesterday.
The Minister of Transport and Vice-president for the Cabildo of Lanzarote Joaquín Caraballo agreed with Oswaldo Betancort the Mayor of Teguise on Monday to start the project to implement a new urban bus line for the town of Costa Teguise.
A study was performed by transport technicians from the Cabildo to look at the feasibility of implementing the internal line to loop through the tourist resort, linking the various zones according to demand from the citizens in that area.
During the meeting the two officials also addressed the possibility of improving the existing bus service linking the villages of Soo, Muñique and Tiagua.
It was also agreed to accelerate the construction of new bus shelters in Teguise as per the “Plan de Imagen Única del Transporte Regular Interurbano de Viajeros”. This project is gradually being implemented across the island so that the bus stops are of a similar standard and recognisable to travellers.
