Museo del Vino, Arrecife

Bar Pintxo Taverna If you need one, you now have a reason to visit Arrecife, the capital of Lanzarote! Situated adjacent to Calle Real (Leon y Castillo) in the centre of Arrecife between the pedestrian shopping street and Charco de San Ginés is a wonderful tapas bar reminiscent of the ones in Madrid.

El Museo del Vino is both a large and very comfortable restaurant, a wine shop and delicatessen offering a variety of local and international wines, cheeses and meats.

InteriorWe called in on Christmas Eve and enjoyed the fabulous atmosphere and quick, friendly service. There’s a large range of tapas dishes available, as well as a full restaurant menu with all the usual suspects. But it’s the tapas that we would recommend – we had Papas Bravas and Chorizo Cazuela (sausage cooked in white wine) a couple of classic dishes that we always enjoy in Madrid. The portions were large, good value and beautifully cooked. We washed them down with the house white wine, which was dry and crisp.

The place was packed with people, but the fast turnaround of the tapas style meals meant nobody had to wait long for a table. The decor is classy and interesting, and the staff wear smart uniforms of red and black.

Papas Bravas Chorizo Cazuela Vino Blanco

The food is good value – each tapa is from €3 to €8 and main courses start at €8. There’s an amazing deal on a Wednesday, when you can have a Montedito (tapa on bread) and a glass of wine for just €1!

Museo del Vino Bodega

El Museo del Vino is already a hit in Arrecife – so get down there soon. And we’d love to see more opening on the island – this is the sort of tapas bar tourists will love – authentic and with great food, good wine and fabulous company!
