I'm not Catholic, but I participated in the 2009 Romeria. It was very special: I may never see them again, but it feels like I made friends for life! The solidarity and togetherness are unique.
Eventhough I "dressed up" I was clearly a tourist, but the sense of belonging was enormous: the sharing of water, wine and all kinds of food (fruit, cheese, salted fish, chorizo, special canarian soup) along the way.
The fiesta in Mancha Blanca itself: you must see to believe, I can't even begin to explain the magnitude.
