Over 1,900 participants have registered to take part in this year’s Wine Run on Sunday 18th June 2017.
The 345 runners for the Long Race (23,4 km) will start at 9:00 from the bodega La Florida. The Short Race (12 km) reached the maximum number of entries, the 500 runners will depart at 9.30 and the 1,082 walkers will depart at 9.45, both of these groups leave from La Geria at the junction with the road from Tinguatón.
The 9th edition of this event will be staged in Uga. Participants can collect their race numbers on Saturday 17th June from 16:00 to 20:00 on Saturday in the Plaza de Uga. Buses will depart from this location on Sunday, the Long Race runners at 7:15 and 7:50, the Short Race runners & walkers at 7:30 and 8:30.
This year the organisers have provided drinks bottles and plastic wine glasses for the participants, instead of disposable plastic cups as in previous years.
The first runner is expected to finish in Uga at 10:00 and the prize ceremony will be held at 12:30.
The children’s race is in Uga on Saturday at 17:00.
This is a great weekend for foodies, as well as athletes as the food festival is a fantastic opportunity to enjoy our local gastronomy, wines and craft beers. The food stalls open at 18:00 on Saturday 17th June. Two groups will be performing live with Boulevard at 19:00 and Mama Said at 21:00, closing at 23:00.
The food festival reopens at 10:00 on Sunday, with live music from Ni 1 polo de tonto at 14:00, closing at 16:00.
The Cabildo have confirmed that the LZ-30 though La Geria will be closed from 08:00 to 15:00 on Sunday 18th June 2017, this is the road that connects Uga with San Bartolomé. Specifically from the roundabout at the Monumento al Campesino and the crossroads with the LZ-56 for Mancha Banca. Also traffic will be cut from the roundabout at the junction with the LZ-2, to just authorised vehicles.
