Electrical regulations in Lanzarote are much stricter than before, for example did you know that a property over 20 years old is required to have a boletin to confirm the wiring and circuit board are suitable for the supply? This can be a problem for property owners who are selling their apartment or villa as the new owners will not be able to transfer the connection to their name without one. Also owners can be caught out if they are cut off for an unpaid bill, the supply will not be re-instated unless there is a boletin which can cause a two to three week delay with the re-connection.
Do you understand your electricity bill? Your property has been contracted to a certain usage, this can be found on your electric bill (Potencia Contratada) if you use more than you are contracted to this could trip your circuit breaker (ICP). If you have an older property it is important to have your wiring checked, lots don’t even have an earth! Electrical appliances such as washing machines and dish washers should have their own circuit breaker, lights and sockets should be on different circuits. Airelectro also have special devices that can be fitted to your property to record your electrical usage to make sure that you are on the correct tariff which in turn can reduce your bills and lessen your carbon footprint.
