Villa Toledo

Lanzarote Restaurant Review – Villa Toledo, Costa Teguise

Villa Toledo is a fabulous bar restaurant that you could easily miss in Costa Teguise. The best way to get to it is along the sea front promenade – it’s situated just before Playa Bastian when you’re coming from the main town.

The location is fantastic, right on the sea front, and there is an upper bar and snack area, and a lower restaurant terrace which overlooks the sea and the restaurant’s own swimming pool. This area is covered in with “sailcloth” which creates a nice atmosphere and light.

We visited Villa Toledo on a lunchtime to check the place out, and found the service to be prompt and cheerful. The choice of food is typically resort style, that’s to say the usual selection of salads, pizzas, steaks and fish dishes, and the pricing is also in line with all the other resort restaurants. Typical price is around €25 to €30 a head for a starter, main and drinks. I have to say I was disappointed that there was nothing different on offer, but the place is catering to it’s main customer base, tourists.

The quality of the food we tried, however, was exceptional. Jules had the prawn and avocado house salad – the prawns were fresh and succulent, the salad crisp, the avocado ripe and the Marie Rose sauce was a perfect accompaniment. I elected to try the Pizza Diavola. I believe that pizza is a good indicator of the quality of a restaurant – it’s a simple dish, but it’s so easy to get the base wrong, to over or under “load”  the pizza and to cook it at the wrong temperature. None of those faults were present in my dish – it was perfect, with a thin, crispy base and exactly the right level of seasoning and topping.

You can’t beat eating right by the sea on a hot and sunny day, so check out Villa Toldeo next time you are in Costa Teguise.
