Miguel wanted a pizza! We were in Costa Teguise, it was a weekday lunch time and we thought we’d try somewhere different to eat.
Lot’s of places offer pizza, we were in the Playa Jablillo area of the resort when the Restaurant Pizzeria Grill Vesubio caught our eye. Situated on the sea front, right on the point of Avenida del Jablillo, this restaurant looks out over the beach. We made ourselves comfortable on the large shady terraced area whilst the waiter brought the menus.
The first thing that struck me was that the clientele was mainly Spanish. Our waiter was very good, he enthusiastically told us about each of the daily specials which sounded delicious before taking our drinks order whilst we browsed the menu. Miguel picked a spicy pepperoni pizza and as it was a warm sunny afternoon I chose the house salad Ensalada Vesubio.
There was some confusion when the food arrived, two pizzas were delivered to our table, we explained there should be one pizza and one salad although I didn’t really mind I could eat the pizza! The staff wanted to correct the order so they removed one of the pizzas, it was only when Miguel started tucking in that he realised they had left the Vesubio pizza and not his spicy pepperoni one. Again, not wanting to make a fuss he continued to eat it when the restaurant realised they had removed the wrong pizza. At this point if it was me, I would have made a gift of the extra pizza but no, they wanted to check if we wanted the Vesubio or the pepperoni, we kept the Vesubio as it already had a piece or two out of it. Still waiting for my salad to arrive, I tasted a slice of the pizza which was good, the topping included prawns, egg, onions and mushrooms it was even better with a drizzle of chilli oil drizzled over it. My salad arrived which was crisp and fresh including tomato, goats cheese, tuna, avocado and lettuce.
Whilst we were eating we looked enviously at the table next to us, they had ordered the fresh fish special which was a mixed platter for two people – it looked fabulous! There was a selection of grilled fish, prawns, squid, octopus, lapas pilled high onto the dish served with a salad, bread and wrinkly potatoes.
The prices were €7.95 for the pizza, €6.75 house salad and soft drinks €1.95 each.
We haven’t let the mix up over the order put us off, the service was attentive and we were made to feel very welcome, the food was good and the views lovely. Next time we’ll take the daily special!
