Lanzarote Restaurant Review - In Situ, Arrecife

In Situ We came across the tapas bar In Situ with an outside terrace area by chance recently. We were heading for the Recova Market in Arrecife, the capital of Lanzarote it was a Saturday morning and I hadn’t yet seen the second hand market although I was disappointed as the doors were closed.

There was a market situated around the Charco de San Ginés but I had visited there recently so we walked through the square in front of the San Ginés church and noticed the umbrellas and outside seating. We hadn’t eaten breakfast and it was early for lunch for us but having read the blackboards which were written in Spanish and English, we were tempted with something to eat and decided on brunch!

We ordered the revuelto con champiñones which is scrambled egg with mushrooms,  a ración of Manchego cheese and broschetta de carne, a skewer of meat with two cañas – well it was after midday! We sat sipping our ice cold beers looking on to the square and down the street to Leon y Castillo. The food arrived, it was beautifully presented:

Revuelto Championes Revuelto con champiñones – this was a large portion, served with triangles of toasted bread, there were lots of mushrooms and lashings of garlic, it was lovely and the plate was soon cleared.

Manchego Manchego – if you like strong flavoured cheese and haven’t tried Manchego you should. The cheese was served with rounds of baguette rubbed with tomato and was a great combination.

Broschetta de carne Broschetta de carne – was two skewers of meat that had been marinated in adobo, they were succulent and tasty and served on slices of fresh bread.

The menu had lots of different tapas options from €2 per ración, the service was good, the location is quaint and reminiscent of Madrid and the quality of food was excellent.
