La Opera

Lanzarote Restaurant Review – La Opera

We’ve eaten at La Opera in Playa Honda a couple of times before, but hadn’t reviewed this restaurant. Our most recent trip was on the way to the airport before flying to the UK.

La Opera have three types of set menu from which you can select a 3 course meal, the prices are Menu 1 €15.90, Menu 2 €17.90 and Menu 3 €19.90, or you can order individual items off the a la carte menu.

It’s a tough choice deciding which menu to go for, as they are all good! In the end I ordered from Menu 2 and Miguel ordered from Menu 3.

My choice was the salad “opera” to start, which was huge! It’s a Waldorf style salad with prawns, celery, apple & walnuts served with a mustard mayonnaise. For my main course I chose the filet of chicken Tosca, the meat was cooked on the plancha and served with a lovely white wine, cream and mushroom sauce, plus a side dish of potatoes.

Miguel ordered the prawn and mushroom pancake for his starter, and chicken tikka madras for his main course. He described it as very tasty, beautifully seasoned and good to see something different on the menu. The curry didn’t quite hit the spot, the chicken tikka pieces were lovely, but the fruity sauce served separately wasn’t to his taste.

For dessert, we swapped menus, Miguel had the chocolate profiteroles from mine and I picked the crepe Suzette from his.

The interior of the restaurant is welcoming with tables laid out, the front is open to the street, so it has a feel of al fresco dining. We were served by two different waiters during our meal, both of whom were the right balance of friendly and professional. There are no hidden charges, you pay the menu price, plus any drinks, a glass of wine was €2.75 and a coffee €1.10.

In summary La Opera is incredible value and consistently serve large portions of great food. You can find them on the same road as the Deiland shopping centre, heading towards La Concha (Calle Chimidas 8). They are open daily for lunch and dinner from 1pm to 11pm.
