New Investment In Paseo Maritimo

The Canarian government has announced a €2 million investment in works on the Paseo Maritimo in Puerto del Carmen, specifically in the area between The Beatriz and Los Jameos Hotels. The work will include new street furniture and further green areas.

Royal Navy Ship In Las Palmas

British frigate HMS Portland docked in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria this week to give the crew some rest and relaxation following a none month deployment during which she traveled 40,000 miles through the north and south Atlantic, The Red Sea and The Meditarranean.

Golf Course Compensation Case

Toni Levas has been camping outside Tias Ayuntamiento this week, claiming he is now homeless. He owned a property in what is now the Puerto del Carmen golf course, and he claims he has not received any compensation from when his property was appropriated for the development. There is some confusion over whether his lawyer put the correct papers in to the courts.

Woman Injured In Carnival Accident

A woman was seriously injured in an accident at Arrecife’s carnival parade on Wednesday. A carnival float hit an overhead power cable, which it turn brought a supporting pole down onto the woman. She was transferred by air to Gran Canaria with head injuries, but is now conscious.
