Irish Lady Drowns In Puerto del Carmen

A 42 year old Irish lady, Elaine O’Donovan, tragically drowned in Puerto del Carmen in the early hours of Saturday morning. She was accompanied by a man when she decided to go swimming at 3AM. Witnesses say she was soon seen floating face down in the water, and they called emergency services while the man walked away from the scene. He has since been charged with “Failing in his duty to help,” and has been bailed pending an investigation.

Cactus Burger Launches

The Cactus Gardens are serving a new superfood - cactus burgers! The vegetarian burgers are made from 50% Tunera Cactus and 50% potato. Served on a tomato bread bun, with yoghurt sauce and smoked cheese, all the ingredients are locally produced.

Canarian Government To Appeal Court Ruling On Letting Law

The government has announced that it will appeal the ruling by the supreme court which sought to allow letting of properties in tourist areas and also for owners to be allowed to let individual rooms. Their appeal is based on “errors” it believes were made in the legal reasoning for the decision. 

Yaiza / Playa Blanca Road To Be Resurfaced

Work starts next week on resurfacing the main road from Yaiza to Playa Blanca. The Cabildo announced a total investment of €3 Million to re tarmac the LZ2, as well as the Guime road.
