Lanzarote Gymnastics Festival 14th - 21st April 2012

Lanzarote’s annual Festival de Gimnasia “Lolina Curbelo” will be celebrated in the capital during April.

Festival de Gimnasia Isla de Lanzarote

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the gymnastics festival which will have an Olympic theme and involve more than 1,500 gymnasts from Lanzarote. It’s a popular annual sporting event in Lanzarote, attracting around 20,000 spectators during the programme.

Saturday 14th April 11:30 Opening Parade

The parade to mark the opening of the event will be held in reverse from previous years, the gymnasts will travel from Charco de San Ginés, along the Calle Real, through La Plazuela to finish by the Quiosco de la Música in the Parque José Ramírez Cerdá.

Friday 20th April 19:00 Festivalito de Danza y Bailes

This night is devoted to children under the age of 9 years old with even the youngest members of the clubs taking part, held in the Palacio Municipal in the Argana Alta area of Arrecife.

Saturday 21st April 10:30 Festvalito de Gimnasia Rítmica y Artística & 19:00 Festival Joven

There are two events at the Palacio Municipal on the final day of the festival, the first is for the younger ones again aged under 9 years old with gymnastics, rhythm and artistic performances. In the evening it’s the youth festival for older gymnasts of a higher level.

The participating clubs from Lanzarote include Club de Gimnasia Rítmica Ayatima, Centro de Gimnasia Isla Lanzarote, Centros de Gimnasia Isla Lanzarote Escuelas Municipales de Mácher, Tinajo, La Graciosa, San Bartolomé, Playa Honda, Yaiza, Playa Honda, Fashion School, Club Deportivo de Patinaje Yábago, Colegio Santa María de Los Volcanes (Nazaret), AMPA de los colegios de San Juan de Haría, El Lajar y Diamar, Colegio Arenas Internacional, Escuela de Danza Árabe Samira Rif, CEIP Capellanía del Yágabo, IES César Manrique, Club de Gimnasia Rítmica Tenesa Sol, Club de Gimnasia Rítmica Tenesa Sol Costa Teguise, Club de Gimnasia Tigotán; Asociación de Patinaje de Lanzarote, Danza Centro Isla Lanzarote, and the Servicio Insular de Deportes del Cabildo.
