The streets are unpaved sandy tracks and motor vehicles are prohibited except for the ones licensed for special purposes. The total area of the island is 29 km2 it is the smallest inhabited island in the Canary Islands, mountains lie to the North Western end of the island and the land is extremely arid. There are two villages, Caleta de Sebo is the main area with the harbour and along the coast is Pedro Barba.
