For a birthday treat, we took one of our friends to Go Karting at San Bartolome. So how did a group of fifty-something's get on with our trip there?
We booked by email but also rang before to make sure we were expected and arrived mid-afternoon at the track. It’s a very good set up with a large track, bar and shaded seating area for spectators and a very friendly staff to make us feel at home. Despite a few last minute doubts, everyone got their helmets on and watched the previous group hurtle round the track. The karts are very low to the ground and you cuddle up close to the petrol tank. The instructions were simple: this how you go, how you brake and you stop!
The track is in a great position on a hillside overlooking Playa Honda and Arrecife. Everyone is catered for, from the smallest karters to the boy racers who want to go for the fastest lap time. There’s a resident photographer who managed some really good shots of our party (mostly together) and we chose the best pictures to buy later. We were also able to put a birthday message and date on for John, our birthday boy.
The general consensus was that the team were really safety conscious and had a very good set up. All our party loved it and most insisted on a second go after a welcome drink from the bar. Robin hasn’t stopped talking about it and would go every week if he could! We had a great time. The staff are very amusing and had some great banter with us, making it a fun experience.
The website at www.lanzarotegokarting.com is well worth a visit to make sure you get the best out of your trip.
