For those of you who have arrived here looking for general advice on getting Jobs in Lanzarote, you should have a look at our main article. For people who want an update as of January 2009 you're in the right place! So what's the job market like? It very much depends on what you're looking for. If it's bar or restaurant work, then it's hard right now. The Christmas rush is over, and the island will be quiet now until Easter. The good news is that if you do find a job in that sector, then you're likely to have it for the rest of the year! In other business sectors, many companies are being affected by the recession, but there are people recruiting, as some of the more switched on companies have bullish plans for 2009. I've been listening hard to people talking recently, and companies in the IT sector, printing and rental agency sector are all expecting decent results this year, so they could be good ones to approach. There are also some amazing deals around on commercial property for rent, so if you are looking to open and shop, office or business, now would be a good time. As ever, don't try to do these things from abroad - you really need to be on the island to either find jobs, or to exploit a business opportunity.
