Happy Kings in Lanzarote

We really enjoyed watching the Cabalgata de Los Reyes Magos in Arrecife yesterday evening, this is a time when it truly feels like Christmas in Lanzarote.

The children were so excited there was a palpable tension in the air, they shouted and waved at the Kings as they approached to catch their attention, jumping up and down until a handful of sweets were thrown, when they dropped to the ground for a mad scramble to collect as many from the floor as they could. It wasn’t a big parade, it didn’t need to be, there were Kings and children on camels, a couple of floats, the train which operates along the sea front and some friendly looking cartoon characters as well as some scary looking ones with giant heads and tonnes of caramelos (sweets).
