Garden Centres in Lanzarote

Garden Centre, Playa Honda

For the green fingered amongst us, there are a few garden centres dotted around the island, most of them are not easy to find, so here's a list and some directions on their locations!

Vivero Las Palmeras Benedicto Cabrera, Arrecife

Probably the best garden centre for quality and pricing, helpful Spanish speaking staff and open through the afternoons in the week.

Opening hours: 7.30am - 7pm Monday to Friday and 8am - 2pm Saturday
Telephone: 928 80 56 56 / 928 82 42 54

Directions: Turn off the circunvalacion heading for the hospital general and San Bartolomé, make sure you're in the outside lane (not the centre) continue past the petrol station and at the mini roundabout cross over the bridge and main carriageway, as you round the corner on the other side turn right. Continue along the side street over the speed hump and take the first road you can turn right, continue along this road stopping at the intersections and the large construction site on your left. At the top of this road turn left and then right, the road becomes a dirt track for a short distance, you will see the garden centre warehouse in front of you on the left.

When leaving if you are heading towards Playa Honda drive past the front of the garden centre along the dirt track, at the tarmac road turn right and you will come out at the Guime roundabout.

Hiperdino, Playa Honda (see photo)

The newest garden centre in Lanzarote, situated next to the supermarket at the end of the airport runway, this was Vivo now Hiperdino. The centre reminds me of a British garden centre, there is a huge selection of indoor plants under a sophisticated mist spray system, lots of garden furniture, trellis, fencing, pots, troughs etc, household goods, garden equipment, pet section and outdoor plants - not the best quality, selection or price but the rest of the shop makes up for it!

Flower Power, Macher

This is an interesting garden centre and has some different native plants as they bring back specimens from the other Canary Islands. Good quality, pricing and staff that speak English.

Opening hours: 10am - 6.30pm Monday to Friday 10am to 2.30pm Saturday
Telephone: 928 51 05 62
Web: www.flowerpower-lanzarote.es

Directions: situated off the main road from Arrecife to Yaiza head towards Puerto del Carmen and Burkis roundabout, turn off right when you see the empty shop / restaurant La Finca. Next door to MCM Multi Centre Macher.

Las Marías, Tahiche

Probably the biggest garden centre on the island, it has a good selection of pots, the outdoor plants are under shelter on your far right from reception. Good quality and helpful staff.

Opening hours: 8am - 6pm Monday to Friday, 9am - 2pm Sat & 11am - 1.30pm Sun.
Telephone: 928 80 05 13 / 928 80 26 93

Directions: Situated off the road that connects Costa Teguise and Tahiche, look for a turning on your right if heading to Costa Teguise from the Manrique roundabout, it is signposted and next door to the islands prison, you can also see the golf course on your left.

Tahiche Garden Centre

This garden centre is probably more noted for the monthly car boot sales and certainly at the moment the plants seem to be slightly neglected, however the stall outside Eurospar from this garden centre is excellent quality so keep an eye on them in the future.

Opening hours: 10am to 6pm
Telephone: 928 173 414
Web: www.tahichegarden.com

Directions: Located on the road from Tahiche to San Bartolomé, head past the Cesar Manrique foundation on your right, the Sara rescue centre for dogs and cats on your left and the garden centre is next on the left.

Macher Garden Centre

Situated on the right hand side of the main road as you pass through Macher towards Playa Blanca. I don't have the contact or opening hour details for this centre, it does close in the afternoon for siesta. The plants are very good quality, everything is priced, they have a good indoor and cactus selection with small handy bags of red or black picon.
