Four hundred travel agents from France paid a visit to Lanzarote for a discovery tour of the island last week.
French tour operators Fram and Thalasso arranged the familiarisation trip for the agents, the Lanzarote Tourist Board gave them a warm welcome with no shortage of Lanzarote wine, cheese and local entertainment at Arrecife airport when they arrived.
Fram already offer weekly direct flights from Nantes, Lyon and Toulouse to Lanzarote, there is also a connection to Paris via Gran Canaria. Thalasso will launch a direct weekly flight from Paris to Lanzarote from February 2012.
The agents visited the official attractions of Montañas del Fuego, Casa Museo al Campesino, Cueva de los Verdes and the Jameos del Agua during their trip.
Ástrid Pérez, the Minister for Tourism at the Cabildo said “The French market was one of the big objectives in 2012 for Lanzarote Tourism, they are very satisfied with the existing Fram connections and have big expectations of the new air operation with Thalasso from February”.
It was also stressed that Lanzarote is a very attractive destination for French tourists offering a combination of natural beauty, sport and gastronomy.
