The Ayuntamiento de Teguise have 350 plots of 10,000m2 of land available to use for free! Normally these plots were rented for 30 or 60 Euros per year but for the time being they are available to cultivate free of charge. The land is available for those families who would like to grow their own vegetables, the soil is ideal for potatoes (papas) watermelon (sandia) and pumpkin (calabazas) crops and each is connected to an agricultural water supply.
Anyone interested in renting one of these plots would need to contract the water supply with Inalsa and clear the land of weeds ready for planting – this is the cool part………you can rent a tractor from the Ayuntamiento! So if you fancy having an allotment to grow your own food or flowers in Lanzarote go and see the Ayuntamiento in Teguise, it really can’t get better than that.
