Most people connected to Lanzarote will have heard of the gruelling Ironman triathlon held each May but new for this year is the even harder Enduroman event.
Double Enduroman: swim 4.8 miles / 7.6 km, bike 224 miles / 360 km & run 52 miles / 84.39 km. Enduroman Lanzarote: swim 2.4 miles / 3.8 km, bike 112 miles / 180 km & run 26 miles / 10.2 km / 42.195 km. Half Enduroman Lanzarote: swim 1.2 miles / 1.9 km, bike 56 miles / 90 km & run 13 miles / 21 km Olympic Enduroman Lanzarote: with swim of 1.5 km, bike 40km and run 10.2km. Each level has a different start time on Saturday 5th February and varying time allowed to finish the races. Double Enduroman: 08:00 Saturday – 00:00 Sunday (40 hours) Enduroman Lanzarote: 09:30 Saturday – 05:30 Sunday (20 hours)
Olympic Enduroman: 14:00 Saturday – 18:00 Saturday (4 hours) If you’re tempted by any of these races entries close on 31st January 2011. The inscription fees are: Double Enduroman 290 Euros (Canary Island Resident 190 Euros) Enduroman 100 Euros Half Enduroman 70 Euros Olympic Enduroman 35 Euros Enduroman are looking for volunteers to help with the races, you must be aged 16 or over, inscription is through Lanzarote Deportes before the 2nd February 2011. If you would like to support the athletes participating, the swim stage will be in front of the Hotel Calimera near to the Lighthouse, the cycle course is the road out from Playa Blanca to Yaiza with a loop round El Golfo and the run is a circular loop along the main road, heading back along the promenade.
