The popular department store El Corte Inglés has launched a competition to find the best tortilla to mark their anniversary. The competition is open to amateur and professional chefs and the prize is €300 to spend in the store.
To take part, you must register by emailing [email protected] your tortilla must include eggs and potatoes but you can add your own ingredients to personalise your recipe, your completed tortilla must be approximately 20 cm in diameter. Inscription is free and open until Thursday 29th October and every competitor will need to present their tortillas at the El Corte Inglés store Centro Commercial Siete Palmas in Gran Canaria from 16:30 – 17:30 on Saturday 31st October.
A jury will then decide which are the best five tortillas entered, those finalists must then cook a new tortilla live at the event but this time a standard one containing only eggs, potatoes, oil and salt with an option of onion if desired – all ingredients and facilities will be provided, you don’t need to bring your own equipment.
The winner of the cook off will receive a store card with €300 to spend and the finalists will receive kitchen household gifts.
