Eight Things to Remember When You Drive in Lanzarote

César Manrique, Tahiche Roundabout, Lanzarote

Let's have a lighthearted, but important look at 8 things to remember when you drive in Lanzarote:

We drive on the right!

We go around roundabouts anti-clockwise!

If you turn right off a main road onto a minor road, you need to give way to people who have turned left

Traffic on a main road doesn't give way to traffic joining from a slip road

Crossing a solid white line, for whatever reason, is a big no and a big fine

You must actually stop at stop signs - even if the road is clear

We use our headlights when it rains - doesn't happen often!

We indicate left to tell people we are stopping at a pedestrian crossing

These are some of the quirks of driving here, but we're also well used to people who are new to Lanzarote driving, so don't worry too much.

At the end of the day, fuel is cheap, the roads are quiet and driving here is good fun!
