Soraya Morales reported in La Voz yesterday that a dolphin was stranded on Playa La Famara in Lanzarote. The dolphin was spotted a short distance along the beach from the town of Famara on Wednesday morning and the authorities were alerted. It is strange to find a single dolphin, normally they would not break away from their pod. The dolphin made several attempts to return to the sea but was washed back up on the beach. The dolphin attracted a lot of attention and was kept wet until the director and expert Vidal Martin from the Museum of Cetaceans in Puerto Calero arrived. After examination, Vidal determined that the animal had a parasite in the brain which was causing it to become disorientated. A vet was then called to put the animal to sleep. Other articles:
