We get quite a few requests for suggestions of places in Lanzarote to watch / join in flamenco, salsa and samba dancing which can be difficult to find on a regular basis. There are however classes for children and adults to participate in even if you are here just on holiday!
Marlene was raised in the USA and won a scholarship to the U.S.I.U. School of Performing Arts, she has been dancing in Lanzarote with Top Catz Dance for the past 22 years. Her main dance classes are tap with a range of lessons for children aged 5 years old up to adults and all levels from beginners through to very advanced. Apart from tap there are Irish dancing, belly dancing and flamenco classes each week.
Currently the dance classes are held in the C.E.I.P. Alcalde Rafael Cedrés school in Tías and include:
Flamenco for adults
Tap dancing for children from 5 years to adults
Irish dancing for adults
Belly dancing for adults
The dance students get to perform shows at local fiestas and events around Lanzarote, they’ll be performing at the St Patrick’s concert on Friday 18th March at 18:30 in the old harbour area of Puerto del Carmen.
More information is available on Marlene’s website: www.topcatzdance.com or you can telephone her on 662 116 415.
