Next Tuesday 20th of December the 17th edition of the Festival de Gimnasia “Navidad 2011” will take place in the Palacio Municipal de Deportes in Arrecife at 20:00 hours.
More than 3,000 people are expected to attend this festival including gymnasts who will be participate from these 8 clubs, associations or educacion centers: "Club de Gimnasia Rítmica Tenesa Sol", "Colegio Arenas Internacional", "Club de Gimnasia Rítmica Ayatima", "CEIP Capellanía del Yágabo", "IES Manrique", Club Deportivo Santa María de los Volcanes" from Nazaret, "Club de Gimnasia Titogan" and "Centro de Gimnasia isla de Lanzarote".
The festival focuses on the rhythmic and artistic modalities of gymnastics, since other modalities like dance are already covered by another Festival, the Gymnastics Isla de Lanzarote Lolina Curbelo, also organised by the Cabildo but that takes place yearly in April.
This year's poster has been designed by 9 year old Natalia Cabrera Cabrera, the winner of a contest organised by the Cabildo de Lanzarote. Natalia herself is a gymnast and member of the "Club de Gimnasia Rítmica Tenesa Sol".
It also will take place on the same day the "Portería Solidaria" project, who are collecting toys for the less privileged kids of the island. The collection will take place in the same location from 18:00 to 20:30 hours. I presume for hygiene reasons, toys must be new, used toys won't be accepted. EMERLAN, the charity that coordinates the Social Services of the seven town halls of the island will be responsible for delivering the toys to those who need them the most.
It will definitely be a colourful evening with a great atmosphere!
