Lanzarote suffer their second defeat of the season but still remain in tenth spot though have drifted five points off the play off positions.
Los Rojillos went in front when one of the few in form players Quintero struck the ball on the turn beating the Tenerife keeper in the 14th minute.
The hosts levelled in the 26th minute with a hotly disputed penalty and the score remained 1-1 at the break. The referee booked many players in the second half and even though the game was intense it failed to flow due to the stoppages.
Rojillos goalkeeper Agoney kept his side in the match when he read the situation well, intercepting the ball when faced with two Tenerife players solely against him.
Tenerife went 2-1 up early in the second half and held on despite Lanzarote having a goal disallowed. More bad news for Rojillos manager Adolfo Pérez was a sending off for midfielder Marcos Cabrera in added on time.
The Rojillos have not yet sparkled this season and next Sunday 11th December at 12 noon they will face fellow local side U.S. Yaiza. In the last nine matches Yaiza have picked up 22 points winning the last three on the bounce and going into next week’s derby match with a 4-0 home win versus CF Arucas under their belt.
Lanzarote are in mid table whereas Yaiza are sitting very comfortable in third place.
