The game in Tenerife was littered with yellow cards as well as three red which prevented the flow of the match. The first opportunity fell to Lanzarote with striker Quintero forcing a good save from the Santa Úrsula keeper.

In the 24th minute the home side were awarded a free kick on the edge of the box. On the first attempt the Ref booked Miguel for blocking the free kick as the official believed that the Lanzarote left back moved before the whistle. On the second attempt the Tenerife defender made no mistake when he placed his left foot strike into the top right hand corner with the ball hitting the underside of the bar leaving Rojillos keeper Agoney no chance and giving his side a 1-0 lead.

Ayoze Pérez came close to pulling Lanzarote level but his effort on the far post narrowly missed the target.  In the 38th minute the first of the red cards was given by the card happy official. A foul by the Santa Úrsula midfielder was yellow carded by the Ref before he had realised that he had already given that player a yellow. Needlessly the Tenerife defender was ordered off in the 38th minute as the home side were reduced to 10 men.

Rojillos manager Adolfo Pérez  was forced to make two substitutions at half time knowing that the Ref was not shy about pulling out his cards. Brad and Fran Gil were one of several players on yellow cards and accepted their managers reasoning as they were replaced by Javi Melian and Toñito.Only seconds into the second half and Javi Melian also went into the Referees notebook in a game which the official refused to allow play to continue.

In the 53rd minute a tussle between Borja and a defender ended up in a scuffle with most of the players. Miguel who was already on a yellow received a straight red as did midfielder Juanqui for the home side. Lanzarote were now down to 10 players but the hosts were now down to nine men. For good measure the Ref also sent off the Santa Úrsula manager.

The Rojillos with the man advantage now controlled the majority of the possession but with the official stop starting the match for small infractions it was impossible to get any rhythm to the game. The home side now had little choice but to defend and set up two defensive lines of four and their goalkeeper.

Kennedy forced the Tenerife keeper into a good save pushing the ball wide for a corner. Finally in the 73rd minute a free kick from Toñito found Quintero on the far post and the Rojillos striker thumped the ball home to level the score at 1-1.

If there were to be a winner of this match it was going to be Lanzarote. Late on the Rojillos squandered two very good chances. Krispy who is improving with every game shot inches wide and Jonathan Quintero probably had too much time on his hands when he was alone in the box. When he decided to strike his effort was blocked.

This is the Rojillos tenth draw of the season with four wins and just one defeat.

Next Sunday at 12 noon Lanzarote will be at home and face third placed side UD Ibarra. The Tenerife side will be bringing one of Lanzarote´s most popular players of recent years Mauri with them. The Colombian winger decided to move to the Tenerife club in the summer.
