The Ayuntamiento of Teguise have opened the competition for the design of the Carnaval 2010 poster. The winner will receive a prize of €600 as well as seeing their poster in print around the island. The competition closes on the 15th January 2010, entries must be submitted to Departamento de Cultura in the Ayuntamiento of Teguise.

The rules are below in Spanish (we have included a basic translation in English):

1. PARTICIPACIÓN: Podrán participar todos los residentes en el Archipiélago Canario.

Participants must be resident in the Canary Islands.

2. RECEPCIÓN DE LOS CARTELES: El plazo de admisión de originales comienza el 28 de diciembre de 2009 y finaliza el 15 de enero 2010. Los trabajos se remitirán al Departamento de Cultura del Ayuntamiento de Teguise, C/ José Betancort nº 6, C.P. 35530.Teguise-Lanzarote.

Competition is open from the 28th December to the 15th January 2010, your entry must be submitted to the Department of Culture at the Teguise Ayuntamiento.

3. MEDIDAS: Las medidas del Cartel anunciador serán de 50 x 70 cms. Los trabajos serán originales e inéditos y que no hayan participado en otros certámenes. Debiéndose presentar también en formato digital.

The size of the poster will be 50 x 70, work submitted must be original and not already published in other competitions. Must be able to display in a digital format. 

4. LEMA Y TEMA: Los trabajos tendrán un lema que figurará, asimismo, en la plica aparte y cerrada, en la que se especificarán, el nombre y apellidos, dirección y teléfono del autor. El tema debe hacer referencia a aspectos arquitectónicos, paisajísticos, ambientales, artísticos o de cualquier otra índole particular del Municipio de Teguise.

Your work should include characteristics from the municipality of Teguise such as architecture, landscapes. Your full name, address and telephone should be included with the design.

5. PROPIEDAD DE LOS CARTELES: EL Cartel ganador y sus derechos de reproducción pasan a ser propiedad del Ayuntamiento de Teguise. Se respetará el nombre original de los carteles.

The full rights of the design submitted belong to the Ayuntamiento of Teguise.

6. JURADO: El jurado estará formado por artistas y creadores relacionados con el Carnaval y su decisión será inapelable. El jurado se reserva el derecho de declarar desierto este Concurso.

The jury will be artists and people related to the Carnaval, their decision is final.

7. FALLO: El Concurso se fallará en el transcurso del mes de enero de 2010.

The competition will be decided in January.

8. PREMIOS: Se concederá un primer y único premio, con una cuantía económica de SEISCIENTOS EUROS (600,00 euros). A esta cuantía se le aplicarán las retenciones legales correspondientes. El Ayuntamiento de Teguise se reserva el derecho de abonar la cuantía del premio en un plazo de seis meses a partir del fallo del mismo.

A single prize money of €600 will be awarded. Any legal retentions will be held and they reserve the right to pay the money within 6 months of the competition.

9. BASE FINAL: La entidad organizadora se reserva el derecho de modificar las bases, tomar decisiones, si fuera necesario que no se reflejen en las mismas, así como solucionar cualquier conflicto en su interpretación. La participación en este Concurso supone la total aceptación de las bases, así como la decisión del jurado y la renuncia a cualquier reclamación legal.

The organisation reserve the right to modify and make decisions as required to resolve any conflict . Participation in the contest is your acceptance of these rules.

10. NOTA IMPORTANTE: En el cartel anunciador del Carnaval debe aparecer los nombres de “TEGUISE” Y “COSTA TEGUISE” 2010.

It is important that the poster includes the name “TEGUISE” Y “COSTA TEGUISE” 2010.
