Belgian tennis star Justine Henin added to Club La Santa's "Wall of Fame"

Guests in the Tinajo based sports resort of La Santa were treated to a glimpse of stardom last night as seven-time Gram Slam winner and Olympic gold medalist Justine Henin was immortalised onto Club La Santa’s infamous ’Wall of Fame’.

Justin Henin Club La Santa 2010 Created more than 25 years ago by Lanzarote Ironman organiser Kenneth Gasque, the Wall of Fame that adorns the walls of Club La Santa’s Sport Café is now home to over 150 past and current world champions across an all encompassing range of sporting disciplines. Following fast on the tail of Jenson Button’s inauguration this time last year, Henin commented: ‘It’s an honour being placed here amongst such great athletes.’

The unveiling ceremony came at the end of two-week warm weather training camp that saw in excess of 100 members of the Belgian Olympic Squad descend on La Santa in preparation for the London 2012 Olympics and next year’s World Championships.

The unveiling ceremony also saw fellow Belgian Olympic gold medallist, Tia Hellebaut ennobled onto the walls of La Santa’s Sports Café after jumping 2.05 metres to take the high-jump gold at the Beijing Olympics.

Thanking her fellow team mates for a great week in La Santa, Henin went on to say: ‘It’s been a great experience here, my first time in Lanzarote. I’m looking forward to building on the training I’ve done here and hope that we all return from London with a haul of medals.’

The Sports Café at Club La Santa is open daily from 17:00 - 24:00 to both guests and visitors alike.
