We met Sally and Paul Cook recently, who have an interesting story. They have recently moved to the island and set up Atlantic Islands Sailing, offering their own yacht Moonchild for charter. The couple sailed the boat from UK to Lanzarote and have set up home in Yaiza, with 13 year old daughter Megan, and with Moonchild moored in Puerto Calero. (Above photos courtesy of ©Gandy-Draper) Sally covered the trip to the island with a diary she posted on Lanzarote Relocation and you can read it here. It’s a fascinating insight into part of their journey down with the yacht, and Sally will be adding more to the posts in the future. Like many people they decided to leave corporate life behind in UK, and head to our sunnier climate. Part of the motivation was the obvious lifestyle choice, but they also cited Lanzarote as a wonderful place for Megan to grow up, and she has settled in well at Colegio Hispano Britanico. A great deal of their early time here was taken up with setting up Atlantic Islands Sailing as a limited company and obtaining all the necessary permits to charter the yacht. With all that done, they are now marketing the business in earnest. Moonchild is a fabulous 45 foot Jeanneau, and is fully equipped for bare boat charter accommodating 8 people in three berths. She’s almost brand new, and is equipped with everything needed for safe and relaxed sailing in our Atlantic waters. Pricing is extremely competitive and bookings are now starting to come in. You can read all about the business and the boat at their website Atlantic Islands Sailing. Sally and Paul are also looking into the idea of offering trips on the boat with them crewing, so watch this space and we’ll let you know if that comes about. They have also kindly invited us on a trip to experience Moonchild in action, so we’ll write all about that and provide some pictures as soon as we have completed the trip.
