The poster for the Arrecife Carnival 2012 was released this week. Lanzarote Photographer & Professor from the Escuela de Artes, Pepe Vera designed the poster to show that you can make a Viking costume on a budget. His son Besaya modelled the outfit constructed from two mops, a colander, tablecloth, banana and a trumpet. Pepe urged residents to use their imagination and creativity as in previous times of crisis by using old clothes and recycling materials to make their Lanzarote carnival costumes. Councillor for Fiestas in Arrecife, Victor Sangines welcomed the poster calling it modern, innovative and conveying the perfect message for the Carnival of Lanzarote. Lanzarote carnival will start on the 10th February in Arrecife before making its way around the resorts and towns of the island. Official dates released for Carnivals in Lanzarote during 2012 so far are: Arrecife 10th to 22nd February 2012 Puerto del Carmen 23rd to 25th February 2012 Costa Teguise & Teguise 1st - 4th March 2012 Playa Blanca 9th to 11th March 2012 |
