President of the Cabildo, Pedro San Ginés and Minister for Transport Joaquín Caraballo were at the official opening last week. The interior of the building has been opened up to create space and make use of natural light through skylights to save energy, a lift has been installed so that passengers with disabilities can access the second floor and a pergola added on the exterior of the building, to give passengers in transition some shelter from the elements.

Canarian architect Alejandro Muñoz designed the new look, we like the funky interior seating but the bright colours on the exterior aren’t in keeping with our traditional buildings. However now that you know what the exterior looks like, you’ll definitely know when you’ve arrived at the bus station in Arrecife!

The refurbishment of the bus station suffered many problems, the project cost 854,000 Euros and a further 52,000 will be spent on improving the garage area.
