We were looking for somewhere to stop in Yaiza for a cup of coffee and cake before continuing our journey South to Playa Blanca when the building Centro de Artesanía caught our eye.
This building is the Antigua Escuela de Yaiza, the old school and has been beautifully restored, there was a car park making it easy to pull off the main road passing through the centre of Yaiza.
There were two jewellery shops on the left of the courtyard Taller Atelier Sandra who makes jewellery from flowers and pearls, next door was FusioNatural with jewellery made from volcanic lava stone and olivina.
Through the bar area was a larger open courtyard with a beautiful wooden balcony and potted geraniums in full bloom, we liked the distinctive art work on the walls.
The shop Los Caravanes with the soft leather bags and sumptuous fabrics that used to be in La Villa de Teguise has relocated here too. We really enjoyed our coffee break with a wonderful Segafredo cappuccino and slice of cake from the attentive and welcoming Café Bodega.
