There was unexpected chaos in the Canary Island airports yesterday. AENA’s regional control centre had an unexplained power cut from 11:30am to 11:52am on Sunday 3rd January 2010 affecting airports all over the Canary Islands.
At the time the power was lost there were 43 planes waiting to depart from the eight airports in the archipelago, 10 of which were in Lanzarote. The power cut meant that incoming planes could land but flights weren’t able to depart, the knock on effect caused delays throughout the day.
