The latest bodega to open in Lanzarote, Stratvs, has been awarded the title of the best wine in the Canary Islands for their Sweet Moscatel (Moscatel Dulce de Licor) at Agrocanarias 2009.
The event was held on the 21st & 22nd April at the Hotel Escuela in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the tastings included rose, tinto, blanco seco and moscatel from the Canary Islands. There were 103 wines on display, Lanzarote also won the wine awarded the best image which was a Mozaga 75 by Montaña Clara S.A.
The organisers said that despite the increased requirements there had been a 30% increase in the number of participants.
The experts who chose the Stratvs Sweet Moscatel said that it was the variety of aromatic senses it evoked such as dates, raisins and oranges together with the intensity of the colour that made it stand out from the rest.
