A 7 year old British boy was airlifted to Gran Canaria in critical condition yesterday afternoon after nearly drowning at a hotel swimming pool in Costa Teguise, Lanzarote.
It has been reported that the incident took place at H10 Lanzarote Gardens Hotel, although neither the location nor the boy's name have been officially released. Emergency services were called, they used a defibrillator to restart his heart and performed CPR on the boy for 30 minutes to stabilise him before transferring him to hospital in Arrecife, from where it was decided to airlift him to Gran Canaria.
An investigation into the circumstances is being carried out by the Guardia Civil.
We will update here as we get more information.
