Lanzarote's Forest, Bosque de Haría

Picnic Table Did you know that Lanzarote has a forest? It’s known as the Bosquecillo and is well hidden from view, situated on the top of the Montaña de Haría, to the right of the radar station. Now, you might be disappointed if you’re expecting a huge deep forest, but there is a really lovely area planted with trees, picnic tables, built in barbecues, a children’s play area and absolutely stunning panoramic views down to Famara.

The area isn’t signposted, so if you promise to look after it, not to light any fires or take your own portable barbecue and put your rubbish in the bins provided – I’ll give you the directions to find it!  read more »

Café & Galeria La Molina, Tiagua

Cafe La MolinaTiagua is a small village situated on the main road from San Bartolomé to Tinajo, just before the crossroads where you can turn for Mancha Blanca or Soo the recently restored mill has opened with a café, gallery and shop.

Galeria La Molina frontThere is a large car park to the side of the building, it wasn’t obvious if you could cross the centre white line when heading in the direction of Tinajo so please be careful when turning in from this direction – we drove a little way further on and turned around to enter the car park on the same side of the road to avoid any fines from passing police!

The Café La Molina stretches from the front bar area through the building to the back gallery offering a wide range of seating. There was a delicious smell of roasting chicken and the chef took great delight in opening the traditional oven in the courtyard to show us the chickens cooking on a tray inside, a different method from the asaderos that normally have a rotisserie.  read more »
