Free Spanish Lessons For Foreigners in Playa Blanca


Another beginners Spanish course “El Taller de Español para Extranjeros” aimed at foreign residents has been confirmed by the Cabildo for the municipality of Yaiza, including the resort of Playa Blanca.

The course is available free of charge to attend and places are limited. Registration is open until the 27th September on a first come, first served basis.

Juan Antonio de la Hoz, from the área de Participación Ciudadana in the Cabildo explained that “after the success and high demand during 2012 for these courses the Cabildo of Lanzarote has organised classes in different municipalities, in order to improve the integration of the foreign population on our island.”

The Cabildo of Lanzarote aims to promote and encourage social integration through language and cultural knowledge.

Spanish classes for foreigners starting September 2013

Registration has opened for two new free Spanish courses aimed at foreign residents living in Lanzarote, who have already completed the beginners course.

Habla Espanol ?

One course will be run in Puerto del Carmen, the other in Arrecife starting from Monday 18th September through to the 11th November. Lessons will be held twice a week on Mondays & Wednesdays, Puerto del Carmen will be from 10:00 – 12:00 and Arrecife from 17:00 – 19:00.

Clothes Recycling

Twelve clothes and shoes recycling containers have been installed around the municipality of San Bartolomé in Lanzarote today.


Donations to these clothing banks will be distributed by social services to those in need within the municipality. The clothing containers have been provided by Canarias Recycling S.L.  for a 5 year agreement. The containers are located within Playa Honda, Güime, Montaña Blanca, El Islote & San Bartolomé. So if you’re having a clear out please consider others that would be grateful for your cast offs, you can find the textile recycling containers here:

Residents Walking Group

If you love walking and live in Lanzarote, you may be interested to learn that there’s a group of residents who meet on alternate Sundays for various walks around the island.

Free Spanish Classes in Playa Honda


Another Taller de Español para Extranjeros has been announced, this time offering free Spanish lessons for residents in San Bartolomé.

Classes will begin on the 2nd July in the Aula de la Tercera Edad based in the Oficina Municipal on Calle Merlin in Playa Honda. They will be held weekly on Monday and Wednesday from 10:00 – 11:30. As before places are limited and allocated on a first come basis, students are expected to attend all classes for the 32 hour long course.
