Lanzarote Restaurant Review - Bogavante, El Golfo

Sunday lunches are important here in Lanzarote – it’s a time to unwind and enjoy a long, slow meal in the company of friends or family.

One of our favourite places to go is El Golfo – the village has many restaurants, and they are renowned for their fresh fish. We recently chose Bogavante for a meal with some very good friends, who were staying in Playa Blanca.

Bogavante opens directly onto the ocean and the outside terrace is actually on the beach. We were lucky to find a table there – we hadn’t booked, but we did arrive early at about 1PM. As you walk into the restaurant, you go past a large tank with live lobsters in it, and three of us made an instant decision to go for the speciality of the house.

We were surprised and impressed when not one, but two Lamborghinis pulled up outside while we were there, and their owners came into the restaurant as well. We didn’t even know there were two Lambos in Lanzarote!

For starters, we ordered various mixed plates – Lapas, local cheese and smoked salmon tostadas. The lapas (limpets in English) were  read more »

Lanzarote Restaurant Review, Beijing Chinese Restaurant

We love finding restaurants that offer good food at great prices, our latest discovery we’d like to share is the Beijing Chinese Restaurant, situated in C.C. Las Cucharas in Costa Teguise.

Beijing Chinese Restaurant LanzaroteBeijing Menu

As there are so many Asian restaurants in Lanzarote, it can be difficult finding the best ones to visit. We were delighted to find the Beijing, instead of a cheap buffet, they offer an all you can eat menu and it’s cooked fresh to order.

On arrival, the waitress takes your drink order and then asks for your dishes for starters. Their sesame prawn toast is amazing, I love this and their crispy fried seaweed for my choice of starters. The dishes are perfectly sized for 1-2 people sharing, it’s like Chinese tapas!

Lanzarote Restaurant Review, Guachinche de Luis

It's hard to beat the Guachinche de Luis in the centre of Costa Teguise for an authentic Spanish Menu del Día.

Guachinche de Luis, Costa Teguise, Lanzarote

We know it locally as Casa Luis, probably because Guachinche (prounounced gwa chin chay) can be difficult to remember and a bit of a mouthful to say! Traditionally a Guachinche is a makeshift restaurant, which this one definitely isn’t but they’re also known for serving good local cuisine at great value, which this one certainly does. You can also order tapas and  read more »

Bodega Vulcano de Lanzarote

Bodega Vulcano de Lanzarote is a boutique winery situated in the centre of Tías.

Boutique Bodega Vulcano

Vulcano is fairly new to the wine industry, they’re only six years old, however this family have a passion for Lanzarote wine and a desire to shake things up a bit! It’s unusual to find a bodega in an urban location, their stylish boutique winery can be found just off the Avenida Central in the heart of Tías. We met Nereida last week during our annual bodega hopping trip to taste the new wines of Lanzarote, where we had an opportunity to ask some questions about their winery.

Wine tasting with Nereida at Bodega Vulcano

We discovered that the family all live in and around the municipality of Tías, which is why it was important to locate their bodega in their local area. The family started producing wine in 2009, in their first year they produced 7,000 bottles of wine, this year Bodega Vulcano have produced 100,000 bottles. At first the family wanted to play it safe, producing typical wines that Lanzaroteños liked to drink, then they started developing their own style and taste.

In 2015 Vulcano’s project was to open their  read more »
