Lanzarote Restaurant Review, Bacco

We met friends in the old town area of Puerto del Carmen to try the new restaurant Bacco situated on calle Roque Nublo.

Bacco Lanzarote

The interior of Bacco is nicely furnished and air conditioned, with the bar running the length of the dining room. There’s a few tables outside on the terrace, plus the salon at the back which would be perfect for a group or special occasion.

Bacco Daily Specials

Bacco offer a variety of dishes on their menu, including daily specials, nibbles (tapas), starters and main courses from the land & sea. We decided to order a couple of nibbles rather than a starter, plus a main course. A box of warm bread was brought to the table with a cute selection of oil, salt, garlic butter and mojo mojo condiments.

Bacco Nibbles

When our nibbles of mini hamburgers and arepas arrived priced at only €2,10 each I wondered how we were going to fit our main course in! Miguel picked the chicken tikka masala arepa, and I ordered the black pig with beetroot version. These crunchy little pockets were well stuffed and delicious, served with an ample portion of fries. We both chose the lamb version of the mini hamburgers with roasted vegetables and honey. The burgers were a good size for “mini” ones, the lamb was tasty and succulent, again served with fries.  read more »

Lanzarote Restaurant Review, Las Maretas

Our meal at Restaurante Las Maretas this week was definitely worth waiting for, and I’m not referring to the service.

Las Maretas Gambas La Santa

This restaurant has been tucked away in the corner of the Las Maretas commercial centre in Costa Teguise for closing in on 30 years, and yet this is the first time we’ve eaten there, despite it’s good reputation. Bizarrely one of the reasons that we’ve not eaten here before is their success, as you do need to book in advance, and quite often we dine out impromptu.

Las Maretas Angus Beef Strogonoff

There’s a full and very reasonably priced menu available at Las Maretas, but you should definitely listen to the many specials from Domingo before making your choice. We ordered the local prawns from La Santa which were stunning! The prawns had been fully shelled, with just their heads left for decoration, they were served hot on a bed of sea salt. The prawns off the specials menu were deliciously juicy and sweet, highly recommended. It’s also a large portion, around 30 of them so good for sharing.  read more »

Lanzarote Restaurant Review, The Farm

We needed to lunch in Puerto del Carmen this week, after a meeting in the resort, I’d heard some good reports about a new place that only opened 5 days ago, so we headed for The Farm in Matagorda.

The Farm

The Farm Country Kitchen & Bar to give it, it’s full name has a front entrance on the side of the C.C. Matagorda shopping centre, or you can enter through the back from the inside of the centre, it’s on the right as you enter from the car park.

The interior of The Farm is really cosy and inviting with a selection of eclectic distressed furniture & stacks of cushions, the staff also wear checked shirts to continue the farm style theme. Their aim is to provide good quality, home cooked food, and after eating our lunch we agree, they’ve nailed it.  read more »

Lanzarote Restaurant Review, Don Rafael

We’d heard good things about the steaks to be found at Don Rafael Barbacoa Grill, so when we met up with friends in December, we decided to give this restaurant in Puerto del Carmen a try.

Don Rafael Interior Don Rafael Exterior

It’s situated on the Avenida de Las Playas, the front entrance on the strip is Cantina, a Mexican restaurant, the BBQ Grill restaurant entrance is on the side street Calle Doramas, you can actually walk through one to reach the other.

The interior of the Don Rafael Barbacoa Grill has a ranch theme, with lots of artefacts displayed on the walls. The furnishing is a mix of heavy wooden furniture and cream tiles giving a warm and clean perspective on entering the restaurant. The kitchen and grill is an open plan area at the front, with fresh meat on display.  read more »
